    Wipfli is currently seeking a part-time or full time Family Office Bookkeeper for our Minneapolis office location.

     

    Under the direction of the Private Client Service (PCS) Family Office Consultant, the Family Office Bookkeeper compiles and prepares tax work papers and performs a variety of accounting services for individual clients, family groups or small partnerships, in accordance with company policies and procedures. 

    Responsibilities

    • Gather client documents to perform Quicken and QuickBooks database maintenance, including monthly bank, broker, and credit card reconciliations for assigned clients or family groups.
    • Prepare accurate and timely cash flow and budget reports.
    • Perform bill paying and file maintenance services, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Identify issues when paying bills, compare how the client is performing against budget; follow-through on money transfers as necessary; research and resolve invoice issues; and meet sales and use tax requirements.
    • Compile and prepare annual tax work papers from all sources.  
    • Perform home office visits to assigned clients or family groups requiring independent judgment and decision making. 
    • Complete accurate and timely household employee payroll set up, monthly submissions, manage quarterly and annual reports, and monitoring.
    • Complete accurate and timely balance sheet identifications and updates, and broker account reconciliation and basis schedules.
    • Perform accurate and timely sales & use tax filings for clients’ small businesses.
    • Coordinate information between clients’ other professional advisors. Identify additional service opportunities and recommend as appropriate.
    • Ensure timely communication of project status and available work capacity to supervisor.
    • Prepare annual trust account calculations as assigned.
    • Complete new client or client group account and file set up, and on-boarding according to procedures.
    • Prepare trust Crummy Notices, ensuring timely distribution, and monitoring of receipts of signed notices annually.
    • Maintain capital improvement historical basis records
    • Complete special projects as assigned.
    • Actively participate in community activities and organizations to develop and maintain positive relationships with community leaders and members.
    • Actively participate in firm sponsored events for clients and prospects.

    Qualifications

    • Requires a High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Prefer Associate Degree in Accounting or Administrative Support
    • Requires a valid driver’s license
    • Requires a minimum of 1 – 3 years of bookkeeping job-related experience
    • General office experience including bookkeeping and reconciliation projects
    • Demonstrated good telephone and personal communication skills
    • Demonstrated record keeping experience, and task management skills Accounting software (QuickBooks) experience
    • Tax work paper compilation
    • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work effectively
    • Ability to balance many projects simultaneously
    • Ability to work under pressure and time deadlines
    • Ability to work with clients and maintain confidentiality of their information
    • Ability to work within project hourly budgets
    • Strong verbal communication skills are extremely important for this position
    • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Experiece with QuickBooks required
