    Wipfli LLP is seeking a Senior Level Tax Professional with International Tax experience to join our Chicago area team. This position can be based in any of the Chicago offices. This leader can be at the Manager, Senior Manager or Director level and will be charged with managing, supervising, and reviewing the preparation of all forms and disclosures in connection with the international compliance practice; as well as developing a team with expertise in international taxation.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct primary and secondary review of complicated or complex international tax returns
    • Facilitate planning, execution, direction, and completion of international tax projects in a wide variety of industries
    •  Consult with clients on tax-efficient structuring of international transactions, effective use of tax treaties, planning related to offshore investments activities and repatriation programs to minimize US and foreign income taxes
    • Provide technical expertise and knowledge of processes to expand the line of business and develop professional staff
    • Interact directly with clients handling questions, planning, and concerns
    • Manage client expectations and delivery of services to expatriate employees of corporate clients
    • Review and sign simple to complex expatriate and foreign national inbound US income tax returns, tax equalizations and other miscellaneous tax forms
    • Develop and review tax equalization and global mobility policies
    • Review international assignment-related calculations such as tax cost projections, hypothetical tax calculations, payroll and compensation calculations
    • Dedicates time to mentoring and coaching staff in tax software, business process, research skills, technical expertise, planning and project management skills while engaging and motivating team members and providing timely feedback
    • Manage resource allocation, workflow, and resource utilization
    • Stays alert to client needs that may result in growth opportunities for the firm
    • Monitors and manages the billing process

    Qualifications

    ·        CPA, EA or JD

    ·        Business preferably in Accounting or related field of study

    ·        Ability to supervise and mentor staff

    ·        Minimum of five years of experience in a public accounting environment

    ·        Working knowledge of foreign jurisdictions’ individual income tax rules

    ·        Familiarity with transfer pricing principles, intercompany cost charging, and accounting for hypothetical tax

    ·        Comprehensive understanding of tax law/rules and implications

    ·        Working knowledge of common human resources considerations in a global mobility program

    ·        Experience preparing and reviewing international individual income tax returns, including but not limited to Forms 1116, 2555, 8621, 3520/3520-A and tax equalization settlement statements

    • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
