Description: Under the general direction of the Information Team Director, the Data Architect will provide technical expertise and thought leadership to drive data maturity throughout the firm. This position will guide data architecture concerns in support of data security, reuse/accessibility, infrastructure reliability/performance and other life cycle considerations.  The Data Architect will also analyze current structures and processes to guide the firm through information decisions and changes necessary to execute the longer-term strategic vision of the firm while balancing and prioritizing current operational demands, disruptions, and opportunities.

  • Architect data models/structures, storage, security and retention processes that support various analytic, ingestion, integration and data science projects
  • Configure, manage and secure Microsoft Azure data resources such as Azure Synapse (Data Warehouse), Data Lakes, Data Flows, connectors and/or gateways
  • Monitor, patch and tune performance and availability of data infrastructure including, but not limited to, SQL Server Analysis Server, High Availability SQL Servers, SQL Agent jobs, etc.
  • Educate and mentor US and India-based engineers on data development/movement best practices
  • Envision our future state technology platform and architect the short-term and long-term solutions that will lead us forward technologically
  • Evaluate and/or envision plans for new technologies to meet our evolving requirements
  • Keep abreast of new technologies to align with future state goals
  • Act as a liaison between firm leadership, business stakeholders, and data experts to optimize our solution design
  • Support informed decision making by identifying solution risks and mitigation strategies
  • Expand relationships with external technology vendors to increase our speed to market


Additional responsibilities: 


  • Represent Information Team interests as a member of our Enterprise Architecture working group
  • Manage the design, development, and implementation of data infrastructure
  • Support and maintain QA and change management procedures
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for assigned systems to maximize technology efficiency

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in IT or an IT related major
  • 12+ years of job-related technical experience
  • Demonstrated strong and effective communication skills especially with non-technical audiences
  • Proven implementation success
  • Proves success working in an agile model
  • Comfortable working in a virtual, remote environment
  • Proven vendor management experience
  • Proven system life cycle management
  • Proven proficiencies in technology design, administration, operation, or development
