Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of a growing sales & use tax compliance practice across multiple offices
  • Provide excellent client service to a large portfolio of clients
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely completion of multiple sales tax filings
  • Work to improve processes, gain efficiencies and seek opportunities that prove beneficial and cost effective
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop SALT associates
  • Manage and develop colleague and community relationships
  • Research state and local tax matters impacting firm clients
  • Participation in voluntary disclosure, nexus review, technical research, exposure quantification, audit defense, and similar projects
  • Provide project management support, and help manage client expectations through effective client communications, on a wide range of state income/franchise tax projects; lead and teach Associate and Senior Associate team members on these projects
  • Provide assistance leading voluntary disclosure, nexus review, technical research, apportionment/allocation, exposure quantification, audit defense, state income/franchise tax return review, pass-through entity tax, ASC 740-10, and similar projects  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance for closely related field from accredited college or university
  • 5-8+ years of related experience sales and use tax compliance, sales tax consulting or tax audit background 
  • Experience with the state personal income tax matters, such as with residency audits or the taxation of deferred compensation, is a plus
  • This position has the ability to work remote
  • CPA, CMI, JD, or LLM preferred; ability to sit for CPA or pursue Masters of Tax a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications and tax research tools
