Responsibilities

Job Summary

This internship offers a hands-on experience within Wipfli’s CyberTech division, with a primary focus on Security Testing and Advisory Services. Interns will work alongside experienced consultants to perform technical assessments, engage in client-facing projects, and contribute to cybersecurity risk mitigation strategies. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and cloud security reviews 
  • Participate in social engineering exercises including phishing simulations, pretext calling, and physical penetration testing 
  • Use tools such as NMAP, Nessus, BurpSuite, and Metasploit to identify and analyze vulnerabilities 
  • Assist in cybersecurity risk assessments and deliver reports with findings and recommendations 
  • Support clients in developing business continuity plans, incident response strategies, and security awareness training 
  • Help draft and refine security program documentation, including POAMs and policy roadmaps 
  • Shadow consultants during client engagements and contribute to kickoff decks and final reports 
  • Participate in tabletop exercises, threat assessments, and sandbox environment simulations 
  • Lead or participate on engagements that perform information and cyber security risk assessments and deliver reports with results, gaps, findings and recommendations. 
  • Assist clients with the implementation of their information security programs including development and consulting assistance with; business continuity and incident response plans, security awareness training, written information security program and policy documentation 
  • Collaborate with peer advisors and performance coaches to gain exposure across CyberTech service lines 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related disciplines 
  • Above average class performance as demonstrated by college GPA; Preferred 3.0 GPA or higher  
  • Strong organizational skills in coordinating multiple projects/tasks simultaneously, and meeting deadlines 
  • Great attention to detail and problem-solving skills 
  • A general understanding of networking concepts and protocols  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
  • Ability to build and foster professional business relationships  
  • Desire to help companies maximize value by leveraging technology and process improvement  
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire. Wipfli will not consider candidates for this position who require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g., H-1B status)

This role requires a hybrid work arrangement.  At Wipfli, hyrbid work is defined as associates regularly working 2-3 days a week in a Wipfli office or at client sites.  The client sites can vary locally, regionally, or nationally depending on the industry alignment. Scheduled meetings at the client and in the office require in-person attendance.
